Latest News and Announcements
Taylor's launches his first ongoing characters: Meet Occult Detective Margot Havelock and her mystical feline business partner, Sebastian. Premiering in legendary Weird Tales Magazine.
A DREAM COME TRUE. With Weird Tales' rich history going back all the way to 1923, to contribute even a small part to the legacy of this legendary magazine is incredibly fulfilling. Weird Tales is known for printing early work of Ray Bradbury, H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Fritz Leiber, Robert Bloch, as well as more modern authors like Stephen King.
My story “The Painted Unseen” in the newest issue, introduces the character Margot Havelock, a detective of the occult, weaving through mysteries with the grit of Jessica Jones, the magical prowess of Harry Dresden, and the determination of Agent Dana Scully. At her side is Sebastian, an enigmatic English mystic from the depths of ancient York, whose soul finds its residence in a midnight blue house cat. Together, this unlikely duo delves into the shadows to confront things that lurk beyond the veil of our world.
This is their first published case file. And this is my first public announcement that you will be seeing MORE of them in my publishing future. I am honored that their very first appearance will be in Weird Tales.

Taylor's story "Glimmergrim" featured in new horror anthology "To Hell and Back," with an all-star line-up of authors.
"Glimmergrim" weaves the tale of Conner, a Wall Street professional tormented by eerie apparitions and a haunting entity from his past. His quest for answers leads him to Dr. Evelyn Stroud, a psychologist specializing in visual phenomena, setting them both on a path that blurs the lines between psychological distress and paranormal encounters. Together, they delve into a chilling mystery that challenges the fabric of reality, exploring the depths of the human psyche and the shadows that lurk within--combining psychological intrigue with the supernatural, "Glimmergrim" reveals that the past is never truly buried, and facing one's demons is the only path to redemption.
Now out from Hellbound Books, I'm super excited to be a part of this new anthology featuring a stellar line up of authors, including Gage Greenwood, Jeff Strand, Nick Roberts, Jasper Bark, Chad Lutzke, Kenneth W. Cain, James Aquilone, Bridget Nelson, and many more.

New issue of classic weird fiction magazine WEIRDBOOK features Taylor's story "Don't Open Your Eyes."
I’m absolutely THRILLED to announce my story “DON’T OPEN YOUR EYES” appearing in WEIRDBOOK MAGAZINE. I’ve long been a fan of Weirdbook, launched back in 1968 by W. Paul Hanley.
Throughout its history, the magazine has featured works from emerging talents, as well as notable writers such as Stephen King, Tim Powers, Joe R. Lansdale, and many more.
"Don't Open Your Eyes" is a terrifying tale of a woman who "flips" haunted houses--buying them cheap and the selling them for a higher price to unsuspecting buyers. But Willow House, her latest fixer upper, may be more than she bargained for...

Remembering My Former Boss and Friend, Stan Lee.
Stan Lee hired me personally to help him to develop new superhero franchises at his company Stan Lee Media. As the Executive Editor and Head Writer, I oversaw several projects that became widely watched web series, While there I had the incredible opportunity to co-write web animation with the legendary Steve Gerber (Man-Thing, Howard the Duck), as well as work closely with former Marvel Editor Jim Salicrup, and an incredible list of artists such as Scott Koblish (Deadpool), Tom Morgan (Captain America), Shawn McManus (Fables), Aaron Sowd (Batman), and Will Eisner hall-of-famer Russ Heath.
Stan and I shared many lunches together and became friends, staying in touch for many years after the company disbanded. Stan's work was a huge inspiration to me as a kid, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the rare opportunity to work alongside him. Stan meant a lot to me, as he did for so many all over the world, and he will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, my friend. Thank you for your friendship, the opportunity, and, of course--the inspiration to become a professional storyteller.

MORE VANISHED NEWS:
A wonderful new review of the film I wrote/co-produced can be found HERE: In other news, The Vanished was recently selected for a special screening in California from the Alliance of Women Directors (AWD). Thank you to Dark Comedy Productions for the wonderful review, and the Alliance of Women Directors for your support of our film. |
A DREAM REALIZED!
I had always wanted to create a hard-boiled pulp fiction story right out of the classic era--and now Kill the Lady Goodbye exists. If you enjoy crime/mystery fiction with romance and action--I think you'll really enjoy this new short fiction piece. It brings together two classic characters from the glory days of pulp fiction--along with the sexy, guns-blazing action you would expect. If you've enjoyed my work in the past, I think you'll really dig this too. It includes an original introduction with a brief history of the characters.) BUY HERE: http://a.co/77xJfeC Huge thanks to talented artist Matt Andrew for his fantastic original artwork and Joseph Sigillo for his amazing title treatment. |

STOKERCON 2017--On the Famous Haunted Ship, The Queen Mary!
Had a total blast this weekend at StokerCon--presented by the Horror Writers Association. This year it was held on the famous Queen Mary, and I had such a great time hanging out with this amazing community of supportive authors and fans of the genre.
I enjoyed some lively panels, hung out with friends, read my new story Static to a wonderful group of folks in the Wedding Chapel, and was also a co-presenter of the Long Fiction Award at the annual Bram Stoker Awards. Didn't see any ghosts, but I certainly heard odd things banging through the ship in the middle of the night. Excellent fodder for a new story, I say. |
New Story Published at Great Jones Street!
What a pleasant surprise. I've received more comments and positive feedback on my literary erotic story "Lust for Life" than just about anything I've written.
PUBLISHER DESCRIPTION: He lives in a world where there's more physical connection to cell phones than to other human beings. Society suffers an epidemic of love starvation. It's the platonic touch that serves as a basic need of life, but it's the fear of how other's will perceive it that keeps us isolated in a crowd. He survives through a physical relationship once a week, but will that ever be enough? You can read the story for 99 cents at the Great Jones Street app. If you enjoy it, please click the heart icon at the top of the story page. Thanks. HERE: http://bit.ly/2lVxjb1 |

Thanks to producer Joel Eisenberg for the opportunity to come hang out for the day, and meet the awesome crew and Bob Conrad.

The Dark at the End of the Tunnel is named one of the Top Ten Most Memorable Books of the Year by HorrorReviews.com!
"Telling a short story is an art form. One has only so many words in which to plot out his story, flesh out his characters, and bring everything together to form a cohesive tale. I think Taylor Grant has truly nailed this. Each story here is worthy of reading.
There is quite an eclectic collection to be found here. Although they are horror stories, there is something to be learned. A study in humanity if you will, but with only the dark side showing through once the veneer has been pulled away. Entertaining and frightening at the same time." - HorrorReviews.com

Midsummer Scream Festival - Long Beach!
I had a blast at the very first Midsummer Scream Festival in Long Beach! I was a guest presenter at the HWA workshop : "How to Write Scares that Jump off the Page and Screen," where I discussed the importance of "setting" in horror, and how to make it a character in your story.
I spent some time chatting up folks interested in the Horror Writers Association and, of course, signed and sold my book The Dark at the End of the Tunnel and my comic Evil Jester Presents. After that, I hung out with my horror loving buddies and walked the floor trying not to empty my wallet. A great time!

StokerCon...in Las Vegas!
StokerCon in Las Vegas was an incredible experience—an absolute delight. The Horror Writers Association volunteers, who worked so hard to put this event together, have my deepest respect and admiration.
Here I am at the Awards Banquet. I was nominated for a Bram Stoker Award for my book The Dark at the End of the Tunnel in the “Fiction Collection” category. And while I didn’t win, this is my second nomination in two years, so I am incredibly grateful.
Seated Left to Right: Bram Stoker Award Nominee John Claude Smith, Taylor Grant, Bram Stoker Award Nominee Robert Cabeen.

In an unplanned moment I'll never forget, one of the men responsible for inspiring my love of fiction, the great William F. Nolan, sat next to me at my book signing. Bill Nolan co-authored Logan's Run, as well as the film Burnt Offerings and Trilogy of Terror--all three which had a huge impact on me. Bill is also a novelist and brilliant short story author, and I had the great privilege of adapting my favorite Nolan story, Small World, for the comic book anthology Evil Jester Presents.
Bill volunteered to sign several issues of the comic, and also asked me for a copy of my own book--which I signed for him, thanking him for inspiring me. At the moment, my writing career came full circle. That 20 minutes was worth the trip in and of itself.

I had the great honor of sharing a book reading with Bestselling author Weston Ochse. He read his wonderful, insane, and hilarious story The Catastrophist, while I read an excerpt from my story The Silent Ones. Always an extra bonus when audience members come up after a reading to buy signed copies of your book! :)
A few short hours after my book reading, I was a guest panelist. The panel was called “Research: Where to Begin and How to See it Through.” A very informative hour, and I learned a few things myself.

It was pretty cool to see my book at the Barnes & Noble booth. And even cooler to see people purchasing it with my own eyes! LOL.
A little secret of mine. Breakfast in bed is my favorite thing about business trips and vacations. Nom nom nom...
Overall, StokerCon was an incredible, inspiring, exhausting, but ultimately rewarding experience—and I can’t wait until next year, when the event is hosted at the haunted Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA.
